New Turnstiles Speed Entry and Exit to SnowDome Leisure Complex
External swing turnstiles and tripod turnstiles from Dahua Technology have been supplied by UKT Turnstiles to SnowDome leisure complex in Tamworth, Staffordshire, to streamline entry and exit to the site while also adding additional security.
The site includes an indoor ski slope with real snow, ice skating rink and track, a 25m swimming pool, a climbing wall, and a fitness centre.
The swing turnstiles have been installed at the entrance to the ski slopes. The swing turnstile features a DC brushless servo motor, anti-tailgating, anti-collision and anti-pinch functions, and sound and light alarms and people counting. With the integrated IC card reading module, the turnstile can work with other modules such as fingerprint scanning, QR code and face recognition.
The tripod turnstiles – together with a glass swing gate to cater for wheelchair access – have been installed in the main corridor just outside the gym. They have a passing frequency of 20-40 people a minute, unlock duration of 2-60 seconds (default is 5 seconds), anti-collision and anti-slip features, and people counting.
The new turnstiles – which replace the previous mechanical ones – are fully automatic and have LED status displays. They feature pre-installed QR scanners which are flush-mounted onto the tops of the turnstile frames. UKT Turnstiles customised the tops of each unit with ‘scan’ and ‘tap’ graphics and customer branding.
Lee Rance, Business Development Manager at UKT Turnstiles, said the project enabled the company to demonstrate its expertise in integration and customisation. “We have used our in-house resources to integrate QR readers into the turnstiles and – with the ability to bespoke 3D print at our head office – have designed and produced highly visible signage with scanning and tapping icons for all units, together with customer branding.”
