With technical improvements heading to a new level, the application scenarios of security and monitoring cameras are widely expanded. In Schwarze Berge (Black Mountains) Wildlife Park located in Rosengarten, Germany, energetic wild lives are well protected through the camera system from Dahua Technology.

The Schwarze Berge (Black Mountains) Wildlife Park covers an area of about 50 hectares. Nearly a thousand animals are housed on these grounds covering over 100 kinds of native species that live in Europe. “A camera system performs many different tasks, and we thought we would like to have a complete system.” Arne Vaubel, Managing Director of the Schwarze Berge (Black Mountains) Wildlife Park said. “We chose Dahua because it customized a complete solution to meet all our needs.”

In this project, a full series of innovative cameras equipped with key technologies such as Full-color and thermal imaging are adopted. We are glad to see that through our cameras, the park is able to monitor the living environment and health status of wild animals at any moment without disturbing them, which also help the park realize efficient operation and management.” Kai Wockenfuß, Pre-Sales Support Technical Engineer of Dahua Technology GmbH says.

Night Vision: capture vivid details even at night

For low-light environment, 8MP Full-color Fixed-focal Warm LED Bullet WizMind Network Camera was installed to guarantee high image definition. With high-performance sensor and large aperture lens, the Dahua Full-color technology can display clear colorful images in the environment of ultralow illuminance. With this photosensitivity technology, the camera can capture more available light, and display more colorful image details. Therefore, every movement of the animals can be seen even at night, which surpasses the experience of our naked eyes in reality.

Zoom: 40x optical zoom for up-close observation

The Dahua PTZ WizMind network camera adopts advanced CNN deep learning algorithms to achieve high accuracy. This camera possess wide monitoring range and PFA algorithm that can always present a clear and focused image while zooming. The model used in this project——8MP 40x Starlight IR PTZ AI Network Camera has a powerful 40x optical zoom capability and Dahua's Starlight Ultra-low Light Technology, which together contribute to clear images in dark environment. The advanced zoom lenses make it possible for audience to have a close-up view of the wild animals.

Automatic pixelation of faces: protect privacy

Adapting to the pandemic situation, zoos and theme parks are adopting Dahua’s surveillance solutions for crowd control as well. While the cameras are monitoring the number of guests and visitors, the Dahua Privacy Protection technology in 4MP IR Bullet WizMind Network Camera can automatically make faces of the visitors unrecognizable in the surveillance image by pixelating them.

Thermal camera: 24/7 monitoring of wildlife against intrusion and fire

Thermal imaging cameras are used not only to observe animals, but also to protect them from danger. Thermal imaging cameras can measure environment temperature over a long range and warn of fires. WizSense Thermal Network Bullet Camera uses uncooled VOx sensor technology. Because of small size and better performance, it’s cost-effective solution for thermal security. They also can capture more image details and temperature difference information due to high thermal sensitivity (< 50 mK).

ANPR: safe and efficient access control

For protecting both wild animals and visitors in the park, and realizing quick entrance of automobile, Access ANPR Camera were applied for accurate vehicles monitoring and number plate recognition in the campsite. The camera adopts high-performance CMOS image sensor and processor for in-depth extraction and analysis of vehicle information 24/7. Its AI based algorithm ensures accurate recognition of vehicles.

Animal and environment protection

With strong awareness of social responsibility, animal and environment protection is one of the priorities for Dahua Technology. Its products and comprehensive solutions equipped with industry-leading technologies are becoming a popular choice in nature protection programs all over the world. “Long-term trust has been established between Dahua and our clients due to the high-quality products, problem-solving solutions and considerate services we provide.” says Kai Wockenfuß.

Forest fire prevention

Fire prevention is a crucial part for nature protection. Over years of R&D investment in core technologies, Dahua Technology has developed a full package of high-quality products to help prevent forest fire. The cameras enable early warning and forecasting, rescue assistance and post-disaster assessment with 7/24 monitoring, clear images, wide-range thermal detection and AI-based analytics ability. In the largest canyon on the earth——The Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon and Guantangyi Forest Farm in Hubei Province, Dahua’s smart forest fire prevention monitoring system has been used to protect animals from fire.

Species protection

Many species on the earth are currently threatened by environmental problems such as climate change, wildfire and pollution. In some regions, illegal poaching and logging are also main causes for species distinction. Dahua’s solutions have been helping many major preservation areas and wildlife parks to maintain a healthy ecosystem and preserve endangered species. In Qinghai province, Dahua built several remote monitoring systems named "Ecology Windows" to provide real-time monitoring for five major preservation areas including the Three River Source, Qinghai Lake, Huangshui Basin, Damu Basin and Qilian Mountains.

What is more, with close observation and the built-in intelligent video analytics (IVS), scientists and researchers are able to collect more accurate data and knowledge about species diversity, wildlife migration and other key elements in protecting ecosystems.
